New Review: Billed as "A Grand Celebration," this album certainly captures the excitement associated with this once in a lifetime concert. Organist Peter Richard Conte demonstrates his total command of this windblown behemoth both from the registration as well as technical standpoints with some hand and footwork that would turn an octopus green with envy. In the first two selections, which are more solo pieces, he uses his phenomenal virtuosity never just for show, but only to serve the music. In the Elgar he gooses up the organ part just enough to make this one of the most thrilling performances of it you'll ever hear.

New Review: “…a recording of absolute musical success. Joan Lippincott never overwhelms with the sound of the organ, and the Camerata is a splendid musical group. This recording could convert even a person who thinks he does not care for Bach’s music, should such a benighted soul exist anywhere on the planet.”

New Review: "The East Carolina University Chamber Singers is the cream of the school's four choral ensembles-mainly undergraduate music majors...The choral tone is extraordinarily fine: warm, solid, well blended, and superbly disciplined. These qualities are enhanced by the friendly acoustic of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Greenville. I am inclined to think that the freshness and purity of sound we hear on this recording can only be obtained from well-trained young voices...Daniel Bara directs performances that are thoughtful and sensitive, with remarkable care over phrasing and nuance."

New Review: "Jonathan Dimmock’s CDs are sure to spark a new interest in and appreciation of Sweelinck’s organ music. They are the perfect resource for hearing Sweelinck with new ears and moving a few giant steps closer to understanding what makes his music so powerful and enduring. Renew your connection with this old Dutch master by owning a copy of this magnificent recording. It is—forgive me—a 'musical journey' you will be glad you took."

New Review: STAR RECORDING (Record of the month) "These CDs are most highly recommended, and have to be a star recording of star recordings as far as I am concerned; they are an absolute must to buy."

New Review: "By all means, buy this elegant disc, and when your busy life has been pressing in on you, light a candle or two, sit in a comfortable chair in an otherwise dark room (with a glass of full-bodied red wine, if that is to your liking), and let this irenic music restore your soul. New Review: "As fine a conception of these sonatas as you are likely to hear. (Audiophile Audition)"

New Review (7/08): "When this is good, it's very good. 'Dixie' comes off as the wistful, attractively introspective song it ought to be. Favorites like 'My Old Kentucky Home', 'Shenandoah', and 'Down in the Valley' also tug at the heartstrings in handsome arrangements sung sensitively by this 32-voice choir from Minnesota." Bach Masses v.1 - Washington Bach Consort Bach - Sinfonia - Organ Concertos - Joan Lippincott
The success of Bach's B-minor Mass has obscured a number of his shorter masterpieces of the same genre. Written in the 1730s these masses—which consist only of a Kyrie and Gloria setting—could be performed in both Catholic and Lutheran liturgies. Sometimes misleadingly called "The Lutheran Masses," Bach used them to gain recognition from the Catholic court of Dresden, which bestowed upon him the title "Electoral Saxon and Royal Polish Court Compositeur."  Program notes by eminent Bach scholar Christoph Wolff. Bach concertos for organ and orchestra?  Joan Lippincott makes a compelling and logical case for constructing organ concertos from the "organ sinfonias" of Bach's cantatas.  Booklet includes essay on these organ solo+orchestra pieces by noted Bach scholar, George Stauffer.
