The Göteborg Baroque Arts Ensemble is an assembly of professional singers and musicians all with a special interest in performing older music. The core of the group is the vocal ensemble Göteborg Baroque Soloists and Musik i Väst's instrumental ensemble Corona Artis. The majority of the ensemble's members received their musical education at the School of Music in Göteborg, and many have continued further study within the early music field.

Ulrike Heider born in Erlangen, Germany, studied church music and organ in Arnhem with B. Matter and H. van Nieuwkoop, choral and orchestral conducting in Zwolle with J. Leussink and T. Lehmann, and singing in Tilburg with R. Stewart. She is now organist of the Haga Church, Göteborg, and teacher of liturgical singing at the School of Music, Göteborg University. She is also founder and artistic leader of the medieval vocal quartet Schola Gothia.

Dieterich Buxtehude's concert series, Abendmusiken, achieved fame far beyond the walls of Lübeck. Many musicians, including Bach and Handel, timed their visits to coincide with this yearly event, which took place during Advent. This CD presents a reconstruction of the musical contents of Buxtehude's Abenmusik, utilizing multiple choirs in dialog, and the new, North German Baroque organ in Gothenburg.

The Dedication Service for St. Gertrude's Chapel, Hamburg 1607, includes impressive double-choir works by Bonhomme and Lassus, a triple-choir motet by Jacob Handl, and the magnificent German Te Deum setting for four choirs of instruments and voices by Hieronymus Praetorius. This liturgical reconstruction includes use of the new GoART research organ in Göteborg. Program notes about the liturgy are written by Professor Frederick K. Gable. Also included in the booklet are the organ registrations, the disposition of the North German Baroque Organ, and a text by Hans Davidsson about the organ as a continuo instrument.
