Forever Methuen - Hohman
Forever Methuen/Hohman
List Price: $16.98
Our Price: $16.98

Organist Frederick Hohman is heard here in a program of serious, classical organ literature. This is the first recording of the Great Organ at Methuen made following the replacement of blower bearing. The result is a steadier tone in the upperwork and greatly reduced sub-sonic rumble. The result is the first truly high-fidelity, full spectrum audio recording of this landmark organ to be produced in many years.

Frederick Hohman takes you to the northeastern Massachusetts town of Methuen, to Methuen Memorial Music Hall. This hall was built originally at the beginning of the 20th century by Edward F. Searles of Methuen to house the 1863 E. F. Walcker pipe organ. The organ was originally located in Boston Music Hall as the first U.S. concert organ. We see maestro Hohman performing 2 contemplative and 2 virtuosic works, and we also see detailed views of the hall and organ case. Also, organ technician Bob Newton also takes us for a 6-minute organ crawl behind the front organ case façade to see the organ's more than 6000 pipes. These glimpses into the organ's interior are seldom available to the casual Methuen visitor and concert-goer.
