| The Great Organ of Methuen Memorial Music Hall organist/host Frederick Hohman guest, Bob Newton 29 minute program - Color - DVD Video (NTSC only)
MP 9021 PROGRAM SYNOPSIS: Our host takes us the northeastern Massachusetts town of Methuen, to Methuen Memorial Music Hall. This hall was built originally at the beginning of the 20th century by Edward F. Searles of Methuen to house the 1863 E. F. Walcker pipe organ. The organ was originally located in Boston Music Hall as the first U.S. concert organ. We see maestro Hohman performing 2 contemplative and 2 virtuosic works, and we also see detailed views of the hall and organ case. Also, organ technician Bob Newton also takes us for a 6-minute organ crawl behind the front organ case façade to see the organ's more than 6000 pipes. These glimpses into the organ's interior are seldom available to the casual Methuen visitor and concert-goer.
Includes sub-titles in several languages, on-screen organ specifications, A Midnight Pipes Series Tour: the first 20 episodes. Bonus audio-only track and Methuen CD promo. PCM 48kHz, 16-bit stereo audio tracks.
