Music for Men's Voices by Peter Hallock The Compline Choir of St. Mark's Cathedral Peter R. Hallock director World premier recordings!
The Compline Choir's second CD features the music of Peter Hallock, written expressly for the men's choir which sings this medieval service every Sunday night in the Cathedral. The CD takes its name from a work inspired by Bunraku—Japanese puppet theatre. Here the music unfolds in three dreams, accompanied by percussion, shakuhachi, narrator, and harp. Surrounding this work are nine anthems for various seasons of the liturgical year; many are richly accompanied, such as The Dawning and Jubilemus Omnes, with five cellos.
