"The Pacific Chorale is artistically exemplary, with a broad, interesting repertoire and the stylistic versatility to match....The education programs are exemplary, a model for other organizations to follow."
— California Arts Council

Pacific Chorale was founded in 1968. The choir, one of the top ten budgeted choruses in the nation, performs approximately 20 concerts annually. They received the prestigious Chorus America "Margaret Hillis Achievement Award for Choral Excellence, and in 2005 they were the recipient of the ASCAP Chorus America Alice Parker Award for Adventurous Programming. Beginning in the 2006-2007 season, they became the resident choir of the celebrated new Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.

The John Alexander Singers, Pacific Chorale’s professional chamber choir, is an independently contracted vocal ensemble of 24 singers. While most of these singers also serve as part of the professional core to the organization’s larger symphonic ensemble, Pacific Chorale, their work with the John Alexander Singers focuses on specialized repertoire appropriate for a chamber choir.

Artistic Director of Pacific Chorale since 1972, Alexander is one of America’s most respected choral conductors. His inspired leadership on the podium has garnered national and international admiration and acclaim.

The Pacific Chorale regularly presents the John Alexander Singers in concert venues throughout Southern California. The Singers have collaborated extensively with Musica Angelica, Southern California’s premier period instrument orchestra. Other notable collaborations include performances on the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s new music “Green Umbrella” series, and performances with the Kronos Quartet, Mark Morris Dance Company, The Royal Ballet of Covent Garden, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Pacific Symphony. The ensemble has served as the resident chorus for several arts festivals, and has appeared as a featured chorus at conferences of the American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, and the Association of California Symphony Orchestras.
