Pro Organo brings us the debut CD recording of The Shelton Organ of First Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas, built by Nichols & Simpson Organbuilders  of Little Rock, Arkansas. The organ was dedicated in September, 2006. It is showcased in this debut CD - with the descriptive title THE LONGHORNS OF ABILENE, by British organ virtuoso Simon Nieminski.

The colors and dynamic textures of this 56 stop, 71 rank instrument are heard in a program ranging from the French Classic music of André Raison to the mid-20th century music of Marcel Dupré. The main highlights of the program are the Symphonic Fantasie and Fugue, Opus 57, known as "The Inferno" by Max Reger, and a tuneful, four-movement set of 1920s-era British tone-poems by Frederick Wood.

Simon Nieminski, organist of St Mary's Metropolitan (R.C.) Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland, and well-known to Pro Organo fans from his several critically-acclaimed CDs, continues to build his reputation in this release.
