This CD is just beautiful! It captures the sound of the Wanamaker Organ perfectly. It makes you feel as if you are right there in the Grand Court of Macy's in the Wanamaker Building. I have had the privilege of hearing this instrument played in person and this CD just does a wonderful job. All of the music selections on the CD are wonderful.
I recommend this CD to anyone who a fan of Christmas music or just the Wanamaker Organ in general!

First, the reverb in this album is really heard at the Grand Court. This Organ is installed in a HUGE room. There are 28,500 pipes, plus. The sound floods the room with sonic magnificence.
This CD is an elegant production, and great selections played.
Marvellous for everyone, and is classic quality Christmas music. Bravo!!
As stated before the reverb is an essential component of reality at the Grand Court, the album faithfully reproduced the accoustics, so it sounds like a LIVE Album!
This instrument is officially a national landmark. A one of a kind treasure.
I suggest that you visit Macy's and treat yourself to the most wonderful sounds of the incomparable Wanamaker Organ. Further details at this website, www.wanamakerorgan.com.
And my recommendation here. GET THIS ALBUM NOW!!!!

This is a stunning set of glorious variations in the French symphonic manner. The blends and sonorities offer impressive expansiveness amidst wildly beautiful textures. Here are passages which bespeak great nobility. The sound portrait glories in triumphant fanfares and dazzling virtuosity. A disc to treasure throughout the year! Highest rating.

Christmas in the Grand Tradition |

Perhaps the most satisfying Christmas CD to appear in a very long time. The combination of sparkling brass and the deliciously lush strings of the Wanamaker organ combine to provide a thrilling musical ensemble. The spatial characteristics of this challenging venue have been expertly exploited by the recording engineer. One gets the sense that they are there, in the cavernous confines that house this great organ, by themselves. Sit back and revel in the acoustic splendor of this recording. I can't recommend it enough !!

My 1st review was in error. One channel of my stereo system was way out of balance. On rehearing I am pleased with the overall program. However I still feel that no home system can do this venue justice. Perhaps a microphone technique that minimizes reverb would be more suitable.
