This is our most popular hymn CD. Great hymns from the broad church tradition sung by a large choir in a monumental space with a large organ.  You will be singing along—guaranteed! Includes "Ye watchers and ye holy ones," "A mighty fortress is our God," "O sacred head," "All glory, laud and honor," "Abide with me," "Rock of Ages" and many other favorites. Immense in size and tonal palette, this magnificent, orchestral-style instrument drew the elite of the century's musical masters to its console, and inspired the creation of many important works.

Peter Richard Conte celebrates the legacy of the Wanamaker Organ, performing compositions and arrangements closely associated with this instrument's fabled history.
Exquisitely sung and beautifully recorded, this CD offers some of the most heartfelt singing we’ve ever heard. Perfect intonation, sumptuous sound, and familiar tunes---this is Dale Warland at his best. Includes “Deep River,” Simple Gifts, “The Water is Wide,” Beautiful River (“Shall we gather at the river”) “We gather together,” and many more. Full text and notes on each song.Within its first month, Harvest Home became our best-selling CD ever, and hit Billboard’s Top 20 Classical Chart.

World Premiere Recordings! A stunning program of contemplative sacred texts set to some of the most beautiful singing we've heard. Slow, focused intensity creates a strong emotional response from many listeners, including us.  The Martin piece alone is worth the price of admission. With première recordings of new anthems by Craig Phillips and Roland Martin, this CD is also the first recording of the widely admired Choir of All Saints, Beverly Hills, under its new director, Dale Adelmann. This is the first nationally released CD recorded on the new Paul Fritts organ at PLU. Fritts' magnum opus, this spectacular organ has 54 stops/ 80 ranks on three manuals. The pedal division includes a full length 32' Posaune as well as a 32' Subbass. The combination of one of the finest organ builders and organists in the United States, 24-bit recording technology, and Lagerquist Hall's four-second reverberation time, make this CD a must-have! Our number one selling Bach organ CD. The success of Bach's B-minor Mass has obscured a number of his shorter masterpieces of the same genre. Written in the 1730s these masses—which consist only of a Kyrie and Gloria setting—could be performed in both Catholic and Lutheran liturgies. Sometimes misleadingly called "The Lutheran Masses," Bach used them to gain recognition from the Catholic court of Dresden, which bestowed upon him the title "Electoral Saxon and Royal Polish Court Compositeur." Program notes by eminent Bach scholar Christoph Wolff.

Following wide critical acclaim of their first disc of Christmas arrangements (QUIL-401), Collegium Regale have released this wonderful disc of folksong arrangements from around the world, sung as only a men's choir can do! From a concert given on the day of the Columbia shuttle tragedy comes this moving performance of Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil, sung with the dynamics and expressive power of one of the world's great choral ensembles. Sung in Church Slavonic. The Grammy-nominated Dale Warland Singers release their highly anticipated final recording, Lux Aurumque. This program of popular 19th- and 20th-century sacred music demonstrates the high choral standards Warland reached with his now disbanded group. The trademark Warland sound is captured brilliantly by the Grammy award-winning team of Steve Barnett and Preston Smith. One of NPR'S 10 Best Classical CDs of 2007!
Promenade: Paintings of the Memorial Art Gallery - Edoardo Bellotti J.S. Bach: Weimar Preludes and Fugues/Lippincott A Grand Celebration - The Philadelphia Orchestra live with the Wanamaker Organ & Peter Conte
Bach: Weimar Preludes and Fugues/Lippincott
Our Price: $18.98 - includes Free Shipping!
Italian organ virtuoso Edoardo Bellotti creates this musical “promenade” based on a sampling of paintings at Rochester Memorial Art Gallery. Improvisations by Bellotti connect organ works by Frescobaldi, Pasquini, Vivaldi, and others, which are paired with seven paintings. Includes full-color images of the paintings and notes by Nancy Norwood, the museum’s Curator of European Art. Performed on the museum’s organ, the only full-size Italian Baroque organ in the Western hemisphere. Bach's prelude and fugue compositions reached an extraordinary peak of sophistication and virtuosity during his tenure as court organist in Weimar (1708-1717). Joan Lippincott plays the Paul Fritts organ in a highly reverberant room that is not unlike the court chapel in Weimar. After a wait of over eighty years, the vast tonal palette of The Philadelphia Orchestra is joined, once more, with the world’s greatest symphonic pipe organ for this historic concert! Recorded live, September 27, 2008. Includes Joseph Jongen's Symphonie concertante, which was commissioned for the Wanamaker organ and the Philadelphia Orchestra in the 1920's, but never performed together until this "Grand Celebration".

One of America's great university choirs premieres new sacred works for choir and single instruments. Recorded in the sumptuous acoustics of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Greenville, NC. Winners of the American Prize and the Margaret Hillis Award, Choral Arts Northwest and Robert Bode make a musically persuasive case for the importance of Hawley's choral works.

William Hawley is a central figure in today's renaissance of American choral music. His treatment of harmony and counterpoint helped to establish compositional trends that have since been adopted by other major figures such as Morten Lauridsen and Eric Whitacre. Winners of the American Prize and the Margaret Hillis Award, Choral Arts and Robert Bode make a musically persuasive case for the importance of Hawley's choral works.
Regarded as having one of the most beautiful organ cases in the world, the 1738 Christian Müller organ at the Bavokerk in Haarlem speaks nobly into one of the great acoustical environments of Europe. With 60 speaking stops, it was the largest organ in the world when built. Played on by Handel, the ten-year-old Mozart, Mendelssohn and countless other musicians over the past 275 years, this instrument continues to impress those fortunate enough to hear and play it. Grammy Award winner Jonathan Dimmock has recorded more than 35 CDs and concertized extensively on six continents. This recording features some of Bach's most popular works, including the famous Toccata in d minor.

Hailed as "the greatest child prodigy the history of Western music has ever known” (Charles Rosen), Mendelssohn wrote for the organ from the age of 11. New appraisals of his less-commonly performed organ and choral works reveal gems equal to his most beloved compositions.

Performed on the new Craighead-Saunders organ of the Eastman School of Music, with the Schola Cantorum of Christ Church.
Recorded live at the concert marking The Wanamaker Organ Centennial, Peter Conte and Symphony in C play large-scale works for organ and orchestra.
Winner of Chorus America's coveted Margaret Hillis Award and the American Prize for choral performance, Choral Arts' newest release features the music of Eric Barnum in a program about the nature of love ant different times and situations of life.

The lyrical, soulful sound of the flugelhorn is paired with the orchestral rich colors of the Wanamaker organ in this beautiful recording. Popular melodies abound, from the "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" theme to Debussy's "Clair de Lune."

Arrangements of five Shaker songs by Kevin Siegfried provide the structure for this album of 20th and 21st century choral works. The texts for this program explore themes of peace, a parent's love, and awe in God's creation, concluding with two motets for Advent and Christmas.

This extraordinary choir is directed by Deanna Joseph and was recorded in the warm acoustics of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta.
The first of three volumes (7 CDs total) of the complete organ works of Buxtehude; Volume One focuses on Buxtehude's best known works, and their relationship to mean-tone tuning temperament.
Few organists are as well known or as highly praised for their Bach recordings as Joan Lippincott. Performing on the newly-constructed Craighead-Saunders organ (closely modeled after a 1776 instrument by the central German organbuilder, Casparini), Lippincott brings a maturity of vision to Art of Fugue that is based on a lifetime of distinguished interpretations and insights into Bach's organ works.  "Lippincott's wide variety of tempos, colors and moods make this possibly the most enduring Art of Fugue ever recorded...highly recommended!" -- Fanfare magazine

The 25th anniversary of the installation of the 1911 Murray M. Harris organ at Saint James is the occasion for this double-album. Acclaimed recitalist Todd Wilson demonstrates the Harris organ's exceptional range of colors and dynamics. Extensively restored and rebuilt in 1995, the Harris organ at Saint James shows why he is often called "the Father of Organ building in the West." Harris built the instrument at St James. Todd Wilson's substantial program demonstrates the full range of colors and dynamics of this instrument -- in its first commercial recording. The first recording of Georg Böhm's (Boehm, Bohm) complete organ works performed on a large, four-manual organ, similar to the Schnitger organs in Hamburg that inspired his stylistically diverse compositions. Later Boehm became mentor to the young J.S. Bach in Luneburg.

This product includes a free YouTube hosted video by the Davidsson Organ and Dance Collaborative. For details on this video and its role in the performance of this CD collection, see the article in the on-line PDF booklet.

Recent research shows that Buxtehude had only mean-tone organs at his disposal during his life. Although there are many good recordings on well-tempered organs (including some antiques), performing these works on mean-tone instruments requires both a radical re-assessment of traditional performance ideas and a large and extraordinary organ. Hans Davidsson is the ideal performer for this task, and he plays the huge “North German Baroque Organ” of Gothenburg, Sweden. The complete organ works are recorded here in three volumes totaling 7 compact discs.
